Split meetingsOrganisation of side events The organising committee offered organised group of people (programmes, projects, associations, etc.) the possibility to set side events. Private meetings will be organised at the "Centre des congrès" on Wednesday afternoon (while no ordinary session will run). ======================================================= PAGES Varve Working Group
The Varve Working Group (VWG) is an endorsed group under PAGES (Past Global Changes). It is dedicated to bringing the varve research community together, and advancing and promoting all form of research involving varved records. One of the recent activities in the VWG is to compile and store varve data onto a sharing platform (VARDA). Building on this work, we call to the community to meet in person, get to know the two new speakers of the VWG and discuss our future steps together. In particular, we would like to present an update of recent activities and the opportunities for collaborative work to unlock the full potential of varved records, define a timeline and objectives together. Anyone interested in joining the workshop, regardless of career stage, is welcome to attend. The VWG will also host a session at the IPA-IAL entitled “Linking varved sediment records to changing lake systems”, which will help to spark the scientific discussion. It is intended to pursue discussions after the meeting in a relaxed atmosphere at a restaurant.

PAGES Working Group: Human Traces in Lake Sediments – Towards a Synthesis in Europe We invite you to take part in a collaborative workshop aimed at producing a Europe-wide synthesis of the traces and impacts of human activities on the environment, using lake sediment records. This initiative is part of the PAGES working group on human traces and builds on a series of regional syntheses currently underway in South America and Oceania. What to Expect Following an initial online meeting scheduled for June 12, where we will define key aspects such as proxies, time periods, and the types of human-environment interactions to be considered, we plan to hold an in-person workshop during the IAL-IPA symposium in Aix-les-Bains. This meeting will be an opportunity to bring together the different working groups, take stock of progress, and plan the next steps toward the synthesis. Access conditions : open This workshop is open to all! We warmly welcome researchers working on paleoenvironmental topics related to human impacts, primarily in Europe, but not exclusively. Whether or not you can attend the initial online meeting, we encourage you to join us and contribute to the discussion. Additional Information We are fortunate to have received financial support from PAGES to help organize this event. If you are an early-career researcher (ECR) or based in a low- or middle-income country, please do not hesitate to contact William Rapuc (william.rapuc@univ-smb.fr) for more information about potential travel support. |
